The Yust Homestead
The Yust family came here in 1885, as our host, Jim Yust, explained. Most buildings and their contents have rested undisturbed for decades.

1. The homestead is located as a 12 acre inholding on the huge Blue Valley Ranch, near the mouth of the Blue River

19. Capt. Charles Yust homestead cabin, 1st location. Homestead papers say settled on the land Sept. 17, 1900, established residence May 1, 1901. The cabin is Not brand new in the photo. Boy 2nd from left is Bill Yust, born Sept. 13, 1889, promoted from 4th to 5th grade June 8, 1900 by teacher Miss. Katherine Mills who is standing far right in the photo. I am still having a hard time reconciling these dates -- work in progress.
