Joan and Bill visit Julie Flora Rogala in La Grange and then attend Becca & Brian's wedding in Wheeling
We spent the first 3 days visiting various places of deep memories in La Grange, while enjoying the warm hospitality of Julie Flora Rogala. She and Bill have been friends for 3/4 of a century!

1. We consumed plenty of wine, but Julie was trying to get rid of this spread.

2. Mary Mlynski has lived for 2 decades in the home where Bill grew up. She and her husband Steve generously gave us a tour, and we were awed by their stunning preservation efforts, and Bill was immersed in memories from long ago.

4. Next, Julie, Joan, and Bill walked 2 blocks to LTHS, where they were given a full tour, even with classes in session! We met the new prinicpal and heard about some of LT's extraordinary curricular offerings.

4b. We sat in a classroom, deliberately kept in a vintage state. Bill had taken chemistry in that room from Mr. Nelson.

5. The beautiful Stone Avenue train station

8. 428 S. Stone, where Bill's sister-in-law Maryan and family lived for several years.

9. A brief swing to the Corral, which wasn't open at the time. It is no longer a student-run organization. LT bought it for $1 a few decades ago. Kinda sad, as Bill holds many fond memories from his time on the Board.

11a. Bill also stopped by the Fieldhouse at LT South Campus. Pretty impressive, what they offer to entering students.

12. The next morning we had an exclusive tour of the La Grange Historical Society (historic mansion at 47th & LG Road) by Sarah Parkes, the Executive Director. It is an incredible organization, with the abilty to prepare a bound booklet for any house in town (we have one for 300 S. Stone and ordered one for the house that Julie grew up in at 317 S. Brainard).

12b. Here are 2 of the posters at the Historical Society. Vann's Pharmacy was at Burlington and Stone Avenue. On the calendar on display one date (circled) has a special significance for Bill.

13. The next day Joan & Bill headed for the wedding venue, with stops to visit Maryan (no photos) and also to reconnect over lunch with Bill's cousins Merrily and Brad Miller, whom he hadn't seen for decades.

14. On Friday evening, Cindy & Tom Lillard hosted a fun dinner party at their lovely home in Winnetka for everybody not attending the rehearsal dinner. 14a. VIDEO (1:54)

14b. The star of the evening was little Ellie Harbison, here held by Emmy with dad Dr. Alex Harbision, new Assistant Professor of ENT/Head & Neck Surgery, Johns Hopkins Medical School.
