Joan, Laurie, and Sharon organized a memorial service for their mother, Marian Swope Loveday. The service was held in the garden at Shalom Park, where Marian and Glenn shared their fifty-sixth to sixtieth years together. In addition to Marian's son Ken (and his wife Ellen), other out-of-town guests included Marian's sister Jean Nickeson and her son Dr. Rob Nickeson, Glenn's brother Paul and wife June Loveday and three of their children - Larry (and wife Mary Cruz), Nanci (and husband Ken Henehan and daughter Kellie), and Marc. David Swartz and Trudi Milcan also attended, as did Laurie's friends Mary Wyman (and son Cameron) and Helena Jones-Siddle (and husband David).
Family members spoke lovingly of Marian's vibrant life. Archie played Marian's violin, and Melanie sang several solos. Sharon and Laurie led us in other songs. Shared photo albums helped to bring back many fond memories. Zach slept through it all, and Cora wandered off only once.

We gathered for dinner at the Betz home. The rapid disappearance of shrimp cocktail and Klondike Bar desserts provided evidence of Marian's presence in spirit and genetics.

On Sunday, we gathered at the cabin for the afternoon. At Marian's beloved beaver pond, we scattered ashes (some will be interred with Wendy in Pittsburgh).
