Excavation begins!
Mark Helton was on site with his trackhoe (excavator), expertly operated by Aaron. They removed tree stumps and cut the driveway to Lot 3, in order to create access for Joe Shelton and the team at Golden Eagle Drilling, to drill a well, as they did decades earlier on Lots 1, 2, and 4. Then they removed the topsoil and placed it in a big pile at the bottom of the lot (it will be reused later).

Mark outlined his tentative plan: Next will be removal of organics on Lot 2, then excavation for the foundations on Lots 2 and 3, then (as the foundations are poured), demolition of the cabin on Lot 2. Last will be excavation for the septic systems on Lots 2 and 3.

On another matter, Mark has co-founded a new business, Badlands Outfitters, originally (since 2008) for mountain lion hunting, but now also for a variety of big game. They have contracted with ranches all along the Blue River valley, past Kremmling, and over the divide into North Park. I want to tag along (with camera) on a mountain lion hunt - five days, all expenses covered, $4000....
