Thanksgiving 1996
  • Yeah, yeah, yeah, Thanksgiving and all the people and dogs. I went and hid under the cabin for three hours. It was just too much. But some of it was fun, and I managed to get a few crumbs.
  • We arrived Wednesday night, and your parents now have Mom and Pop electric lap blankets (note the entwined power cords - how romantic). The hors d'oevres were pretty good.
  • On Thanksgiving I scoped out the scene . It looked good, so I had to keep a lookout for Jager.
  • At times, I felt caught in the middle!
  • Susie & Lydia, and David & Lukas Swartz are good sledders, but I didn't enjoy it one bit.
  • Back inside, getting ready for dinner, Gramps was in fine fettle. We also took the obligatory group picture.
  • They also took pictures of kids and grownups.
  • After dinner they threw magic crystals on the fire and roasted marshmellows.
  • I got the usual YALE treatment, too.
  • And naturally Gramps set up the kids (especially Lukas, being 4 years old) for stories about the Tomten.
  • On Friday your Dad and I skied up to the summit of Keller (before breakfast). For dinner, Bob Lesher (CYA) and his friend Pat, and Joe Angleson (postdoc) joined us.
  • On Saturday, Gordan Kilic (postdoc) and his family, Martina and Katerina (14 months) drove up. Katerina doesn't say much, but her parents speak to her in three different languages (German, English, and Croatian).
  • So it was a pretty nice weekend, and you can guess my FAVORITE PART.
  • We all hope that you had a wonderful time, and we can't wait to see you in three weeks!
