LTHS CLASS OF 1961 - 60th REUNION 1-3 October 2021 was cancelled, but several alums (mostly local) gathered on Friday and Saturday for a Mini-Reunion. Pictures and written Memories click HERE. Here is the message sent earlier describing the Mini-Reunion: LTHS Class of '61 Classmates, Though we have cancelled our formal 60th reunion, despite COVID our Class of '61 committee just couldn't give up. We will host an INFORMAL reunion on Friday, October 1, and Saturday, October 2. Both venues allow us to be OUTDOORS. Here are details: Beginning 6:30 p.m. Friday, October 1: We will gather at Flagg Creek Golf Course, 6939 S. Wolf Road, Countryside, IL. There will be a cash bar, and you will be able to purchase sandwiches, hot dogs, and hamburgers. Saturday, October 2: 9:00 a.m. Hall of Fame Induction, followed by North Campus tours 10:00 a.m. Parade, South Campus tours, Alumni reception at the Corral 1:30 p.m. Varsity football game at Bennett Field Beginning 5:00 p.m.: Our classmate Bob Hopkins and his wife Lynn have generously offered to host us at their spacious home and garden at 427 S. Sunset Avenue in La Grange. We will provide a light dinner, beer, wine, and soft drinks. A basket will be available for a freewill offering. PLEASE "Reply to Sender" to let Don Brown know by SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 25 that you can join us so we can complete our plans. Hope to see you on the weekend of Oct 1! The LTHS Class of '61 Reunion Committee Email sent 19 August 2021: Dear Class of '61 Classmates, It is with considerable sadness that the LTHS 60th Reunion Committee has decided to cancel our October 1 and 2, 2021 reunion. The Covid Variant presents too much risk for all of us seniors. The new Delta Variant is very contagious even though we believe the vaccines to be effective. Break through cases for the vaccinated are significant even though the vast majority recover. We are sorry for any inconvenience and are contemplating possible last minute local gatherings for those who will be in the La Grange area. Please let us know your opinions and if you will be in the area on October 1 or 2 this year. We might have a last minute gathering if the Covid numbers improve. Email sent 6 July 2021: Hello to all our fellow 1961 classmates of Lyons Township High School! After a long deliberation, the LTHS CLASS OF 1961 Reunion Committee has decided to proceed with our 60th Class Reunion. We are appealing to all members of the Class of ’61 to attend our reunion on October 1, 2 & 3, 2021 as this may possibly be our very last organized reunion! As of now, it appears to be safe to have our reunion this Fall. HOWEVER, if there is a future outbreak of COVID19, we will cancel the reunion once again. With vaccinations now available to all, we feel safer inviting you, making this a wonderful opportunity to renew old acquaintances. The responses we received from the emails sent out in May were positive, but many classmates couldn’t commit at that time because they have either health issues, moved away, lost interest or have sadly deceased. We are asking you to commit now so we can get a count as to how many people will attend. This email is your INVITATION to the reunion. Unfortunately, we do not have firm prices for both evenings due to the fact the venues are just opening their doors to the public. Our estimated figures for the two parties are $35 for Friday and & $90 for Saturday night. A cash bar will be provided both nights. If accommodations are needed, the cost per night is $129+tax at the recently remodeled Holiday Inn in Countryside, which is adjacent to Jameson’s CharHouse, formerly William Tell Restaurant. The phone number for the Holiday Inn is: 708-354-4200. Other suggestions for accommodations in the area will be supplied in our updated invitation along with final prices. Casual dress SATURDAY: 9-9:15 am: Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony, Clock Tower 9:15-10:00 am: North Campus Self- Guided Tours, Clock Tower 10:00 am: Homecoming Parade, North Campus to South Campus 11:00 am: South Campus Self-Guided Tours, Times Square 11:30 am: Alumni Reception, Corral 1:30 pm: Football Game, SC Bennett Field – Alumni free 6:00 pm: Jameson’s Charhouse – dinner, music & cash bar. Casual dress Homecoming is also that weekend so there will be many opportunities to take advantage of the tours at both campuses, a parade, and of course, the football game. The committee from the 55th Reunion just can't resist getting together with as many of you as possible. We've come a distance from the Father Knows Best and Leave It to Beaver days.
